What is Restorative Justice Practices?

Restorative Practices is an intervention strategy created to empower students with the wherewithal to resolve internal and external conflict and promote positive interactions amongst peers, parents, and the community. 

Goal #1: Reduce Suspensions and Increase Student Attendance 

Strategy: 1. Engage students in restorative practice circles to promote positive productive solutions and behaviors 

2. Create a restorative classroom setting to curtail inappropriate behaviors and eliminate in-school suspensions. 

Goal #2: Empower stakeholders (staff, teachers, parents, etc.) to lead and engage in Restorative Practice Circles 

Strategy: Provide stakeholders professional development over the course of the school year to ensure proper implementation with fidelity 

Goal #3: Foster Student Voice 

Strategy: Provide students with opportunities to speak openly and freely without interruption or judgment in a safe, welcoming environment.
